How about a relaxing stay in one (or more) of four luxurious self-catering cottage apartments located in an old, converted quinta (farm property), while enjoying the climate and the sights and sounds of central Algarve?

Choose from four cottage apartments that can be rented singly or in combination, with accommodation for any number of guests between 2 and 13.

One bedroom cottages are: Casa do Forno,  Lemon and  Carob.

There are two bedrooms in the Orange cottage.

The grounds occupy an acre of hilltop, securely fenced and accessed via electric gates. You'll be enjoying the tranquillity of a rural setting while a mere 15 minutes from Faro Airport and the Algarve coast, yet with easy access to anywhere in the Algarve.

Visit at any time of year, to take full advantage of the Algarve's 3000+ hours of sunshine. Arrival and departure days for these apartments can be flexible, allowing you to snap up last-minute and cheap airfares to Faro. 

The owners live nearby and are readily available to assist with local knowledge and recommendations that will maximise your enjoyment during a stay. The relaxed and tranquil setting is perfect for celebratory occasions like honeymoons, birthdays and anniversaries. For less relaxed holidays, outdoor pursuits available locally include walking, fishing, golf, tennis and bird-watching.

The pool is heated between October 1st and April 30th, to ensure enjoyable swimming in cooler months. Enjoy relaxing in the hot tub / jacuzzi or just laze in one of the shaded terraces that overlook the lovely gardens.

Your cottage apartment has its own  kitchen, private south-facing sun terrace, brick barbeque area and private entrance, so you can come and go as you please. Decoration and furnishings offer welcoming comfort.  

If you are new to 'non-package' holidays, the owners will be pleased to advise and to assist you in making travel arrangements.

Casa do Forno Cottage

Casa do Forno cottage is a one bedroom rustic duplex cottage, tastefully decorated, yet retaining many original features.

The cottage has simple, traditional Algarvian décor, featuring whitewashed walls, sloping cane ceilings with timber beams and displays of hand-painted wall plates, all redolent of the real Algarve. 

The cottage is rich in style, with wonderful Algarvian antique furniture all adding to its character.  Although rustic in style, the cottage has modern comforts. With its high sloping ceilings, this cottage is always cool in the summer.  Casa do Forno is a haven for adults only, the ultimate peaceful and tranquil accommodation.

Bedroom 
The room has a double bed, wardrobe and sloping cane ceilings with wooden beams. It is decorated in soothing pastel colours of aqua and peach, with a colour co-ordinated mosquito net hanging over the bed. There is also a pedestal fan. Immediately next to the bedroom there is a large alcove area with a chest of drawers and a safe deposit box.

Bathroom 
A walk-in shower with a tiled seating area, washbasin with vanity unit under, WC and marble flooring give this a luxury feel.

Lounge
The "crow's nest " lounge area with sloping cane ceiling with wooden beams, has spectacular views, being on the upper floor. There is a radio/CD player with MP3 reader (guests need to bring own CD’s).  There is a selection of puzzles, a chess set, playing cards, dominos and a large selection of books. The crow’s nest lounge is accessed by the original rustic stone stairs.

Kitchen / Dining
The kitchen/dining area retains the 19th century bread oven (hence the 'forno' in Casa do Forno), original floor tiles and stone sink from the original quinta. The kitchen is well-equipped, with fridge / freezer, microwave oven, mini electric oven, electric kettle, toaster and gas hob. From the kitchen/dining area there are doors leading on to a completely private, south-facing terrace with barbeque, table and chairs and reclining cushioned chairs.

There is also a wood burning stove for cooler winter evenings, ensuring that this cottage is very cosy.

Garden
The cottage has a private garden which is for the sole use of its occupants. Within this garden area there is a further seating area surrounded by beautiful flowers, shrubs and many varieties of cactus. There is also a large covered terrace with a cane ceiling and wooden beams for alfresco dining, the exterior draped in colourful Morning Glory. Casa do Forno's terrace offers wonderful romantic Algarve sunsets.

Lemon Cottage

The Lemon Cottage is a peaceful, relaxing hideaway with a light and airy feel. This cottage, together with Carob cottage, is ideal for two couples wishing to holiday together, but with the option of privacy when required.

Bathroom 
The cottage has a new large luxury bathroom with shower, washbasin with vanity unit under, WC, bidet and shaver point.

Lounge / dining

The spacious lounge / dining area is decorated tastefully with cane and pine furniture, a large leather sofa and is simple yet lacks nothing. The lounge has Satellite TV (free-to-view channels), a DVD player, video recorder and radio/CD player (guests need to bring own DVDs and CDs). During the summer months there is also a free standing  fan available for the lounge area. There is a selection of reading books, puzzles, chess set and playing cards. The patio doors lead onto a private south-facing terrace with table and chairs, cushioned reclining chairs, its own brick built barbeque and a lemon tree for added shade.

Kitchenette 
Brand new and modern this comes fully-equipped with fridge / freezer, microwave oven, mini electric oven, electric kettle, toaster and electric hob.

Bedroom 
The large bedroom has a double bed, and can also accommodate a single bed/cot, that could alternatively be put into the lounge area at night. There is a large ceiling fan, digital security safe, sloping ceilings & patio doors leading on to the south-facing sun terrace. The bedroom is tastefully decorated with quality pine furniture and has a beautiful throw and pillowshams in Mediterranean yellow that complement the décor. The bedroom also has a free-standing fan.

The Lemon Cottage also benefits from gas central heating for use during cooler months.

Carob Cottage

The Carob is the sunniest of the apartments/cottages.  This cottage, together with Lemon cottage, is ideal for two couples wishing to holiday together, but with the option of privacy when required.

Bedroom 
The large bedroom has a double bed, and can also accommodate a single bed/cot, that could alternatively be put into the lounge area at night. There is a large ceiling fan, digital security safe, sloping ceilings & patio doors leading on to the south-facing sun terrace. The brand new kitchenette is fully-equipped and has a fridge / freezer, microwave oven, mini electric oven, electric kettle, toaster and electric hob.

Orange Cottage

This is the largest of these Algarve apartment/cottages. 

The Orange Cottage is a large two bedroom rustic cottage of traditional Algarvian style with whitewashed walls. It oozes charm and style, being rustic yet with modern comforts.  Part of the original farmhouse and having high sloping ceilings, this cottage is always cool in the summer.  The feel is that of 'home from home'.

Kitchen/Dining
The fully-fitted modern kitchen has electric oven and gas stove, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, electric kettle and toaster. Its double doors leading onto the sun terrace.

Lounge 
Tastefully decorated with cane and pine furniture, leather three-piece suite, satellite TV (free to view channels), DVD player, video recorder and radio/CD player (guests to bring own CDs and DVDs), a selection of reading books, puzzles, chess set, playing cards. There is a ceiling fan and the cottage boasts an original 19th century fireplace that now houses the wood-burning stove.

Bathroom 
With a luxury double walk-in shower, washbasin with vanity unit under and blue marble top, WC, bidet, shaver point and a sloping wooden ceiling.

Bedrooms 
Main bedroom with a double bed and colour co-ordinated soft furnishings in a vibrant Mediterranean yellow and Algarvian blue. Bedroom two has twin beds and colour co-ordinated soft furnishings in soothing lilac. Both bedrooms are easy on the eye and have beautiful throws and pillowshams to complement the décor and the sloping wooden ceilings.  Both bedrooms have pedestal fans for use during the summer months.

Outside
Double doors lead onto the spacious south-facing private terrace with table and chairs comfortably seating four people, cushioned reclining chairs and a brick-built barbeque area. There is also a large covered terrace with a cane ceiling and wooden beams for alfresco dining. Vibrant bougainvillea, jasmine and hibiscus drape the exterior, and there are rock gardens and pot plants sprinkled all around, with shrubs, palms, and fruit trees all adding to the air of peaceful tranquillity.

Pool Area

The pool area is fenced and gated for added security. Recently extended and protected by balustrades, the large terrace area offers relaxation and views out over the countryside and coast. You can even watch the local shepherd moving his sheep and goats morning and early evening. 

The pool measures 10 x 5 metres and is over 2 metres at the deep end. It is cleaned daily. It is surrounded by olive and almond trees, rocks and colourful terracotta pots with a profusion of vibrant Mediterranean flowers. The pool fencing is covered in wonderful bougainvillea, jasmine and hibiscus.

From 1st October until 30th April, the pool water is heated to make swimming more enjoyable.

Ample tables, chairs, parasols and cushioned sun-loungers are provided.

Pool towels are provided, but guests will need to bring their own beach towels.

There is a recently-installed hot tub / jacuzzi with hydro-massage jets located on the pool terrace beneath a plant-draped pergola. From the hot tub, you can enjoy the sea views in the distance while you relax and unwind.

Honeymooners

Portugal combines natural beauty, medieval splendour, and sophisticated beach resorts. The landscape and climate of Portugal couldn't be lovelier, and the Algarve in particular is ideal for a relaxing time.

The region boasts year-round sunshine and is bordered at west and south by the clean blue waters of the ocean. This property's Casa do Forno is an ideal location for romantic getaways.

The Casa do Forno is the most secluded of the cottages at the Quintassential, giving newly-weds total peace and tranquillity, along with a romantic, rustic charm.

Fun for two in central Algarve can include hot-air ballooning, horseback riding, canoeing, hiking, and mountain biking. Couples can also enjoy watersports along the coast, cruise the canals or rivers that criss-cross Portugal, or tour a winery.

Shop together for gold-filigree jewellery, fine wines and ports, embroidered fabrics, ceramics, and other handcrafted goods made in Portugal.

And don't forget to admire the azulejos - distinctive, hand-made tiles that decorate the interiors and exteriors of many of the most beautiful buildings and museums in Portugal.

The cuisine of Portugal is as diverse and tasty as you might expect from a Mediterranean-warm country. Fresh grilled sardines and succulent lobsters make their way onto many Portuguese menus, and you often find locally-grown almonds and figs sweetening the desserts in Algarve restaurants.

They're even more delicious when you dine in one of the region's many open-air restaurants. Later, go dancing, listen to the soulful strains of a fado singer, or try your luck at one of the casinos.

Guests spending their honeymoon at the property will receive a welcoming bottle of Portuguese bubbly and a box of chocolates on arrival.

• For any additional person(s) there is an extra £75.00 GBP per person, per week or per part week.

• Prices from 1st November through until 31st March include oil filled radiators in the price for the Casa do Forno and Orange Cottage and gas central heating in the Lemon and Carob Cottages.

• Pool Heating – Included in price from 1st October until 30th April.

Booking

Cottages can be provisionally 'held' for 48 hours and, should another firm booking request be received for your provisional dates, you will have first refusal. 

Deposit payment can be made either by UK cheque or by bank transfer from anywhere in the world for 30% of the full price. 

Bank details will be provided at the time of booking confirmation.

The balance is payable six weeks prior to arrival, along with the Returnable Damages Deposit.

Winter Specials

November 1 to March 31

If you'd like to escape that unforgiving northern weather, then winter in an Algarve apartment is just the thing! The Algarve is awash with the colour of almond blossom in early January with many flowers blossoming from late January onwards. 

The region has a wonderful climate with plenty of sunshine and daily temperatures that do not usually drop below 60F (16C) in the winter. 

Guests staying on winter specials enjoy the nightly comforts of 'winter tog' duvets, a throw, a hot water bottle and there are also additional blankets in the cottages too along with one oil-filled radiator in the Casa Do Forno cottage, two oil-filled radiators in the Orange cottage and gas central heating in the Lemon and Carob cottages.

Location

You'll be staying in central Algarve, only 15 minutes from Faro Airport and overlooking the popular market town of Loulé.

On first arriving, you may be taken by the panorama, over the hills and down to the coast from Faro to Portimão; it's a view that is entrancing at night and breathtaking during the day.

Loulé is a remarkably authentic country town, with locals going about their daily business in the covered market. There are lovely walks in the area, plenty of places to visit, and a wide choice of restaurants for dining out.

The charming market town of São Brás de Alportel is a short drive away, with lovely church, bustling market square and the gorgeous views from the pousada, as you sip an afternoon coffee.

The beautiful village of Querença is only a little further north, while the east-west EN124 holds treats such as the wonderful Alte with its two fontes (large and small freshwater springs) and charming cafés and restaurants.
