Algarve in a Camper Van
You see them often, usually at the greatest remote
beaches in the Algarve...

Camper vans, that is (some of which are quite palatial),
usually surrounded by chairs, tables and an assortment of
mountain bikes - or even trailers with all-terrain buggies.
They are obviously a good way to see a variety of places
in Algarve, even in Portugal and beyond, but I don't often
get a chance to chat with the drivers/ occupants of the
vehicles - either I'm busy, or they're otherwise engaged.
So, I was pleased to receive a message from Chris, who
recently completed something of a mega-tour that included
the Algarve in its itinerary. He was suitably enthusiastic
about the experience, as he reveals below:

Thanks a lot Jennifer, you have a really cool website.
My name is Chris. I attached a few photos I took when I was in the Algarve in Aug/Sept
08.
You will see me in one of the pics sipping a cold Sagres (the beer we always liked in Portugal).

Cheers - but none for
the driver!
I had a great time there for my first...
and definitely not last, visit. Even though it was my first time in the Algarve I have been to many
countries in Europe, many times.
I met a long-time friend of mine from Berlin, Germany all the way down in Faro, Portugal. We then drove "Bob" (his white VW camper
bus [you will see in a pic or two] all the way through the
Algarve.

Exhibiting a firm
belief that the brakes had been serviced...
"Bob" is on the number plate:
B-OB. The first B means it's registered out of Berlin, the
-OB was by chance).
Camped out on the cliffs and had a wonderful time, throwing frisbees, rock climbing, and
swimming in the great surfs.

That's right,
Sebastian - those beaches are great!
We eventually journeyed all the way to northern Spain,
southern France, Paris and a lot of Germany to Berlin.
What a trip... over 1700 miles, and it wouldn't have been the same without the Algarve.
(See pics attached).
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the pics.

Great - and thank you, Chris, for
sharing the wonderful time you obviously had. And hurry
back to the Algarve for more of the same as soon as you
can.
