Algarve Flights

Finding Algarve flights used to be easy for me, because I was lucky enough to live near Bournemouth Airport in the south of England. Southampton airport was also pretty handy, and even the three
London terminals were bearable, given the level of modern motorway connections.
But there are lots of other airports that offer flights to Algarve, so read on for more about flying off for a wonderful Algarve holiday...
Air Travel to Algarve
NEWS -
Ryanair's Faro to Barcelona route proved to be
short-lived, having started in March 2007 and lasting only a
few weeks. Perhaps their market research may have been a tad
optimistic.
But, great news for those living in Aberdeen
(Scotland), Blackpool, Durham Tees Valley (England),
Dortmund, Frankfurt Hahn (Germany), Madrid, and Zurich,
because they can now fly direct to Faro airport to enjoy
some Algarve Beach Life in the shortest possible time!
There's a twice-weekly service from Bucharest to
Lisbon from March 25th, 2007, operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays. While the flight is not direct to Algarve, it's only a fast and pleasant train journey away from Faro. The operator of the service is
Blue Air.
Whether you live in London, England or Lincoln, Nebraska, finding Algarve flights should be a cinch.
How can I be so confident? Well, because the most popular airport for Algarve is pretty much smack in the middle of the coastline, at Faro, so it should fit the bill, whatever your final
destination within this compact region.
Around half a million visitors choose air travel to the Algarve every year. That makes Faro a pretty minor airport in absolute terms, but it can feel busy enough at peak times, nonetheless.
On the plus side, if you like discount air fares, you'll be pleased with the choice of cheap Algarve flights available... and even transatlantic flights to Europe are a breeze nowadays.
Within Europe, you could be flying to the Algarve from lots of different destinations. You should check on seasonal availability, however, as not all airports I've listed offer Algarve flights all
year round.
As you'll see from my listing below, your widest choice of hopping-off points for air travel to the Algarve are in the UK and Germany.
But the variety of alternatives means that you shouldn't have far to travel to find suitable Algarve flights, wherever in Europe you're starting from!
Of course, airports are busy places... Faro is no different in that regard, but you won't be overwhelmed by its size, as you might be at London Heathrow or JFK airport. It all takes place on a
human scale... which is a good start and end to your holiday in the Algarve.
There are scheduled flights and there are charter flights. It's your choice, but if you're looking for cheap airfares, charter flights can often turn up the best deals.

From further afield (such as the United States), it's best to
fly to London (UK) or Lisbon (Portugal) and catch your Algarve flights from there.
There are, however, some direct flights to Algarve from North America, since Toronto Airport in Canada has schedules (charter only) every March, April, September and October.
"Taxi!"
Once you disembark from your Algarve flight to start your holiday, you might appreciate some tips about using the taxi services from Faro airport. I've included some distilled 'wisdom' here.

If you are one of those for whom air travel to the Algarve is not suitable, you can always choose from rail, coach or car from anywhere within mainland Europe. But if you decide to drive, look
