For those interested in going unclothed on vacation, I'm
including this page of Algarve naturist experiences, just to
give others' views of how things are.
The first offering is from Francis and Lotty, who hail
from Dublin, Ireland, and have visited the Algarve
previously.
Here are their impressions:

As a couple of Irish naturists/nudists we were really
interested in your views of the beaches of Algarve and
felt compelled to write to you.
We look forward to our holiday every year, so we can
let our hair down and enjoy some nude sunbathing on the
continent, as we do not know of anywhere in Ireland where
we can enjoy the freedom to do so.
The Algarve has been our favourite destination over the
past few years and we would like tell you of our
experiences of the beaches that we found listed on an
Internet site and which we used as an itinerary, since we
have limited time each year - just two weeks of vacation,
and accompanied by our grandchildren for the first week.
Praia Grande (Pêra)
This beach was beautiful but we did not find many
naturists. There were just a few couples, and no families,
but single men seemed to be in the majority and gathered
in the sand dunes looking down on the beach, which made us
feel uncomfortable! So, we visited only the once.

Meia Praia (Alvor/Lagos)
Another beautiful beach that we visited a few times. There
were more couples than at Praia Grande and less single men
in the dunes! The shells on this beach are
magnificent; you just want to keep gathering them up to
take home.
Caneiros (Sesmarias/Carvoeiro)
When we visited this beach, we could not find any
naturists anywhere.
Prainha
(Portimão)
This beach we also found to be completely 'textile'. So,
we made the journey to Tavira from which we got a ferry to
-
Ilha de Tavira
We then had a long walk before we found any naturists on
this beach! Eventually, we found some couples and groups
of naturists, and then felt at ease to strip off.
We found the beach to be not very pleasant for bathing,
since there was a lot of seaweed on the shore and in the
water.
Although quite a journey to get to, we thought it worth
the trip, especially if you are staying close by.
Other beaches we found listed on the Internet seemed
difficult to find as they were in out of the way places
that had no road signs. Our favourite beach by far is -
Praia de Zavial (Figueira/Sagres)
We have returned there as often as possible. It is the
most beautiful beach we have found and we are totally at
ease taking off our clothes there. Other couples and
families we have seen returning on a regular basis must
feel as comfortable as we did.

At the entrance to the beach there's a great restaurant
with very pleasant staff. The beach is shallow and clean,
though waves can get moderately high on some
days.
I hope this gives you a view of our experience of the
Algarve, and we will return next year to our favourite
beach Zavial.
With luck, this will give a flavour of our experiences
going naked on the beaches of Algarve.
Love your website. Keep up the good work
Regards,
Murta & Lotty

Many thanks to Francis and Lotty for sharing their
Algarve naturist experiences, and what they have discovered.
It did occur to me that, when they visited places and
couldn't see any naturists, perhaps others had done the same
as them - gone there, seen no-one else and left to try other
spots. I suppose someone's always got to 'go first'.
Although some of the places on their list do feature on my own
Algarve
Naturism page, they didn't visit a good few that are
very popular. Perhaps if they try out some of those, they might find somewhere to rival Zavial in
their affections.
Here's hoping they enjoy more agreeable Algarve naturist experiences
when they next visit.
This next contribution is from Darren,
from Budens, western Algarve:

My favourite beaches on the Algarve are two where naturism can be enjoyed
- even at the same time, tides permitting.
The well-known Furnas beach is the place to start, as it is accessible by car. Once on this gorgeous large sandy beach, strip off
and relax for a while. This is one of the most wonderful beaches anywhere for going nude.

Then, walk eastwards along the beach (still nude)
and go round some small rocks. At the end of this extra little beach you can walk through the cliff as it has a archway worn through it by the tides.
At low tide (and only then) you can continue to walk onto a very large beach. Stroll on eastwards, sometimes passing an occasional naturist or non-naturist walking the other way. When at last you reach the end you will come to some more rocks. Check that the tide is not coming in
and walk around these to yet another beach as big as the last.
Here you walk to the end and once more around the rocks to arrive on the beach at
Figueira. This also idyllic place has recently become well frequented by naturists as well as clothed users. This walk will take about 20 minutes if you don't
keep stopping to rest a while on the sand or to cool off in the clear sea (I do both).

Finally walk back to Furnas. The low tides in the summer tend to be around 9.00am - 11.30 to enjoy this walk at its best, but check the local press for more accurate info.
