Inside

The split-level lounge has a capacious log-burning stove for toasty winter evenings.

The generously-sized kitchen/dining room, accessed via the side door and offering access to the lounge, has plenty of equipment. There is a range of modern storage and utility units with a large, stainless-steel, dual-fuel cooker. 

The adjacent utility room has an extra sink, with handy shelving, cupboards and two washer points. 

The four bedrooms are all able to accommodate a double bed. Two have air conditioning.

There are two bathrooms with modern suites including showers.

Outside, there is a shaded, raised dining area and a large raised terrace offering country views.

The majority of the property has new double-glazed windows.

Apartment

The separate accommodation, for guests, or with rental potential, is reached by its own gated, external staircase. It enjoys a large private terrace and elevated views across the adjacent countryside.

The lounge has sliding double-glazed doors and rear-wall window to make the most of that lovely Algarve daylight.

The kitchen/diner has a pleasant 'rustic' feel, yet has modern units and facilities aplenty.

The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and double-glazed French doors to the roof terrace.

The second double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and fitted wardrobes.

Both en-suites are fully-tiled and pleasantly finished, as shown in the photograph above.

Outside

The large walled garden is ideal for containing pets. There is a plunge pool for those hot, hot Algarve summer days.

A double garage with workshop, and other outbuildings as well as a large parking area are all accessed via the front gates.

Country living wouldn't be complete without some 'Nature', and the large walled garden has some characterful trees, including fig, orange, lemon, olive and carob. This garden area is served by a part irrigation system.

To the rear of the property is a separate olive grove while, to to the front are more olive and carob trees. 

Immediately outside the front gates is a sizeable area that offers plenty of off-road parking to visitors and guests, with the access track to the metalled village road being some 50 metres in length.

A telephone line and mains electricity serve the property.

There is a satellite dish for TV reception (UK or European programmes available - or a simple set-top aerial will pull in Portuguese programmes so you can polish your language for communicating with the local nationals).

The property has water from a bore hole that is mechanically pumped into a concrete cisterna (tank). Waste goes to an efficient septic tank within the property.

General Information

The property was constructed in 1951, with the modern apartment being added later and upgraded in 2006. The plot size is given as a generous 5970 square metres and the 'built' area is 235 square metres.

Points of Interest

Casa Tranquila is close to Querenca, which must be in the running for Most Beautiful Village in Algarve. As already mentioned, the nearest town of note is Loule, one of this website's favourite places.

If you fancy international, rather than local, cuisine, then nearby Almancil will suit you perfectly.

It's a short drive to see the sights at Estoi, which boasts the Roman ruins of Milreu and the palacio that is now the fourth Algarve pousada.

Some of the best Algarve beaches (like Ilha de Faro, Garrao and Falesia) are close by, yet a short drive inland takes you to some gorgeous country views and walking trails.  The beautiful Ria Formosa natural park on the nearby coast is a magnet for those who like to watch wildlife (especially birds).

If you occasionally hanker after more artificial fun, the east-west motorway is only a few kilometres away, so you can visit the waterparks and other diversionary venues that Algarve offers, such as the casino action at Vilamoura, should you be feeling lucky.

The wonderful golf facilities around Loulé municipality offer a great choice of Europe's best golf amid great scenery. While, from June 2007 there'll be yet another golf course at Monte de Rei, between Tavira and Vila Real do Santo Antonio, designed by the great Jack Nicklaus.

Children who grow tired of the beach, can enjoy lots to do within a short, sunny drive - or even make it an adventure day out!
