Rather a gem of an Algarve villa rental, Quinta Videira was completed in 2007, yet offers a taste of traditional Algarvean style. 

This cottage-style villa boasts 3 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and generous open plan living space. Internally, the furnishings are all of a quality that makes it a comfortable holiday home. And there are no stairs, so it's 'family-friendly'.

Outside, you can enjoy barbeques on the traditional tiled courtyard terrace, cool off in the 8m x 5m pool, or relax in the canopied poolside seating area. 

With nearby roads providing easy access to the best beaches, towns and attractions in Eastern Algarve, you can enjoy some laid-back countryside living, with views to the sea and to Mount S. Miguel. 

The walled courtyard affords welcome privacy, while the pool is accessed via an adjacent gate. 

The nearby village of Quelfes (pronounced Kel-fish) is quiet and traditional, with two convenience stores, a church square and cafe. Restaurants aplenty are only a short distance away. While a five-minute drive to Olhao, Algarve's largest fishing port, gives you more choice should you want it, with its myriad shops, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes and markets.

Car hire is necessary, as public transport is not readily accessible from the property. On the plus side, there are car-hire bargains to be had and, with your own transport, you can more easily explore the delights of inland Algarve. The property has good access to the A22 east-west motorway and to the EN125 (coastal road). This makes visiting all tourist attractions, water parks, golf courses and even Spain very easy.

Bedrooms
The large master bedroom has a double bed, built-in wardrobes and en-suite bathroom.
Bedroom 2 has a double bed, built-in wardrobes and sitting area.
Bedroom 3 has twin beds and built-in wardrobes.

Living Area
With a view out onto the courtyard garden, the large, open-plan lounge, kitchen and dining areas offer comfortable living space with striking exposed timber ceiling beams. The dining area has a table and seating for 8 people, while the lounge area has an open fireplace for use on cooler  evenings and comfortably seats 6 people.

Kitchen
The large, fully-equipped kitchen has a breakfast bar, a gas oven and hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and ample crockery and cutlery.

Bathrooms
The en-suite to the master bedroom has a shower, handbasin and WC.
The family bathroom has a bath with shower over, a handbasin and WC. It also houses the built-in washing machine and some storage cupboards

Other Amenities
Towels, beach towels and linen are provided and are changed weekly. Because the pool and garden area are in the owner's garden, these are maintained to the highest standards with the pool serviced daily.

The living areas provide access suitable for elderly or infirm visitors. Two cots and a high chair can be provided for babies or toddlers (when requested in advance). 

Algarve Villa Rental - Outside:

Terrace
Walled for privacy and finished with traditional Santa Catarina tiles, this is a relaxing space. A solid wood pergola and almond trees add more traditional feel with a little shade, and the barbeque is brick-built, solid and stable. A table with seating and recliners are all available for enjoyment of those relaxing hours in the balmy Algarve climate.

Swimming pool
The pool has Roman steps to the 1 metre deep floor at the shallow end and drops to 1.5m at the deep end. It is surrounded by terracotta terracing. Small children should always be supervised when around or in the pool. The surrounding gardens make for a beautiful setting in which to paddle or swim.

The garden is south facing, benefiting from all-day sun, with distant sea views and vistas over the adjacent countryside. The grounds have been professionally landscaped and have an adjacent orchard bursting with the scents of fruit trees. There is also a small play area with swing, climbing ladder and sand pit.

Points of Interest near this Algarve Villa Rental

Quinta Videira is situated close to the interesting port of Olhao, which offers good shopping and restaurants, and is only a short drive from Faro airport, yet close to other such places of interest as Tavira and Loulé (two of this Algarve enthusiast's own personal favourites).

There's also nearby Estoi, which boasts the Roman ruins of Milreu and the palacio that will become the fourth Algarve pousada, and it's a few kilometres to the laid-back market town of Moncarapacho, which hosts a charming Algarve carnival every February.

Some of the best Algarve beaches (like Fuzeta and Barril) are close by, yet a short drive inland takes you to some gorgeous country views and walking trails.  All of my recommended Barlavento (eastern) driving tour is achievable in a single day from this location (with plenty of time for a relaxing and authentic dinner in a hillside village restaurant on your return leg).

If you occasionally need more hedonistic fun, the east-west motorway is only a few kilometres away, so you can visit the waterparks and other diversionary venues that Algarve offers, such as the casino action at Monte Gordo, should you be feeling lucky.

The fantastic golf facilities at Colina Verde and Benamor are handily close. And June 2007 will see the inauguration of the new course at Monte de Rei, between Tavira and Vila Real do Santo Antonio, designed by none other than Jack Nicklaus...

(Please note if you wish to play golf you will need your handicap certificate (not required at Colina Verde) and soft spike shoes. Major courses to the east and west of the Algarve are only 30 minutes away).

There are plenty of restaurants around in the main local centres (Loulé, Tavira and Olhao) but Algarve restaurants are fairly thick on the ground, and you won't go far before finding one to try.  If you like seafood, then Olhao will suit your taste.  Many of the inland restaurants offer game dishes as well as the usual pork and chicken choices.  Nearby Tavira even boasts one of my favourite Algarve restaurants and Santa Luzia has a seafood restaurant recommended by an Algarve Beach Life reader...

While, if you've brought children who grow tired of the beach, there's lots to do within a short, sunny drive - or even make it an adventure day out!
