Algarve Villas

Like most forms of accommodation in such a tourist-centric region, Algarve villas come in all shapes, sizes and – dare I suggest – flavours.
From the height of luxury to the very affordable, there should be something in the way of a rental villa in Algarve to suit every taste and budget.
What I liked about my own experience of Algarve villa holidays was that nice warm feeling of pampering myself. Not that I haven’t loved all my other Algarve vacations – just that your own (for a while, anyway) luxury holiday villa in Algarve is something extra special!
When I was gearing up for my last 2005 Algarve holiday, I
did some in-depth research to see what some luxury holiday villas in Algarve
were costing at that time.
(Note: 1 UK Pound is worth around 1.5 Euros or 1.9 US Dollars
these days).
Nev and I had both been working hard in 2005, and deserved some unalloyed extravagance - or so we
reckoned.
Okay, so what’s affordable? I hear you ask.
That’s one of those ‘how-long-is-a-piece-of-string’ questions, isn’t it? What it boils down to is how much you’re prepared to spend on enjoying yourself in any of the holiday villas in Algarve. (And, of course, on how many bedrooms you want your Algarve villa to offer).
I should point out at this juncture that who offer Algarve villas
for rental are more enlightened than others.

Instead of charging you more for under-occupation of villas in Algarve, they offer a discount (because there’s less for the maid service to do and generally less wear and tear on the place).
So that’s the sort of villa (and villa hire company) that I looked for, whenever I
chose holiday villas in Algarve.
Exclusive Villas in Algarve – What’s the Choice?
If you’re after 1- or 2-bed Algarve villa to rent (just the thing for a romantic holiday for two) it should cost somewhere between
£320 and £570 per week depending on the time of year.
That’s $610 - $1080 (or 480 to 850 Euros) - at
early 2007 prices.
Included in that price (typically) should be:
shared (or private if you’re lucky) pool
twice-weekly maid service
fully-appointed rooms (bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, with dishwasher and washing machine)
satellite TV
Furnishings and finish would be high quality, and you should expect, if not a sea view, at least a terrace or balcony with a fine vista to enjoy. In the absence of a garage for your hire car, parking should be private and shaded.
Or, if you’re a larger party…
There are many luxury holiday villas in Algarve in the 3-bed category. That means luxury accommodation for 6, with at least 2 bathrooms, and perhaps a surrounding wall (for privacy), would set you back somewhere between
£530 and £950 per week depending on time of year.
(That’s $100 to $1800 or Euros 800 to 1430).
For that outlay you could enjoy:
private pool
more frequent maid service
fully-appointed rooms (bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, with dishwasher and washing machine)
satellite TV
central heating or air-conditioning
Of course, should you be considering a holiday with lots of your friends or family -
A 6-bedroom version of the luxury villas in Algarve should accommodate 12 to 14, with at least 3 bathrooms and spacious grounds to enjoy. It should cost between
£1300 and £2500 per week.
(That’s $2470 to $4750 or Euros 1950 to 3750).
Expect some luxury extras, like games room, top-notch music system, perhaps a large garden or even a tennis court. There should be whole-house heating and air-conditioning and the pool should be heated in cooler months. To cope with the possible domestic chaos, there should be 5- or 6-times maid services per week.
The appointments should be luxurious and your sense of being pampered should be untroubled by any hitches (that aren’t caused by your friends or family, that is). Expect to be near a beach if you’re on the coast, or to benefit from fabulous views if you’re inland.
If that seems like a lot of money, remember how many people are accommodated. The cost per head per week is not at all unreasonable for the luxury you’ll all be enjoying. Often, the price per head works out lower for larger and more sumptuous Algarve villas.
All the more reason for enjoying an Algarve villa holiday with your nearest and dearest (or anyone else with whom you can muddle along for a couple of weeks).
And don’t forget, this will all be taking place in one of the friendliest climates (and certainly among the friendliest people) that the world has to offer.
When I first typed this back in the UK, it made me long to get
back to Algarve!
Bargains
The Internet is a wonderful thing, and means that you can surf for great deals from the comfort of your own home.
I find that a search for Algarve villas available the week before low season ends is likeliest to yield the best bargains. That way, you get the best chance of fabulous weather, while minimising the cost of your luxurious break. (If
you ever win the Lottery, you may not care about price, but in the meantime…)
By the way of illustration, you can read all about our
final (bargain) Algarve villa vacation in Boliqueime.
As a bonus, the cost of your car hire is also likely to be less. So that’s a win-win situation, as they say!
A Great Choice – Algarve Golf and Villa

Justifiably famous for its gorgeous golf courses, the Algarve is also able to offer some fantastic all-in sporting deals!
Packages including flights, hire car, and a set number of rounds of golf
all rolled up with Algarve villa holidays are becoming easier to find.
Some are such wonderful value that they make me wish I could play the game better… Alas, I spend most of my time with my head hung in shame at my latest pathetic shot. So Algarve golf is very wearing on the neck muscles, I find. I’ll leave it to you enthusiasts who manage to propel that little ball more or less where you want it to go.
So, expect to find me at the 19th hole, or floating on the water at my Algarve villa with pool.
Go on; spoil yourself!
Algarve villas are a wonderful way to enjoy a fantastic part of the world, and if you do your research properly, they represent great value, too!
While there may not be such thing as a cheap villa in Algarve, there are certainly bargains if you’re prepared to look for them!
