I have stayed in many different villas, in and around Albufeira, booked mainly through a company called Villa Plus, who have excelled through the years in looking after our needs.

For a villa with stunning views - albeit a deliberate uphill walk out of the old town - I thoroughly recommend the Cerro Grande area of Albufeira (car not required). Or, for a more tranquil setting, a villa in Olhos D'Agua (a 15-minute walk to 'The Strip').

We have usually stayed either in May or mid October (out of season) and have been fortunate enough to reserve 4-bedroom villas for around £500 per week.

Villas with this company seem to vary every year so I cannot possibly recommend a favourite, but every one we have stayed in has been unique and picturesque with superb facilities in every possible way.
